Horseradish Crusted Chicken Wings

Over the next few weeks, you are going to see a lot of posts for "football food."  With the Super Bowl around the corner, what better time is there to try out various appetizers so that you have the perfect game day spread?

We decided to try out a few last night for the first Patriots playoff game... we made these wings, loaded nachos with homemade queso, and pepperoni crescent rollups (all posted here today).  The wings were based on a recipe from the latest Food Network magazine.  They also apparently have "football food" on the agenda!

Ingredients:
  • 2lb chicken wings
  • 1/2c spicy mustard
  • 1/3c prepared horseradish (not the sauce, but the kind in the refrigerated section near the bacon)
  • 1.5c panko
  • 1/3c grated parmesan
  • salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.  Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
  2. Mix the mustard and horseradish, and coat the wings.
  3. Combine the panko, parm and seasoning, and coat the wings.  Shake off excess
  4. Bake for 42-45 minutes
These were very flavorful and crispy!  The horseradish smelled amazing while it was cooking, and the parchment paper keeps your cookie sheets from getting destroyed.  These wings are definitely gong to be featured in our Super Bowl lineup!
