Grown Up Sloppy Joes

Here's another easy weeknight meal prepared right on your stove top, putting a tangy spin on the sloppy joes of days gone by.



Ingredients:
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 jalapeno, diced
  • 1/2 of a red onion, diced
  • olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground beef/veal/pork mix = fab)
  • 1/4c red wine
  • 1/8c red wine vinegar
  • 4oz tomato paste
  • 2c tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/8c worcestershire sauce,
  • salt, pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp each- cumin, italian seasoning, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, montreal seasoning (if you've got it)
  • bulkie rolls
  1. Cook the peppers and onion in olive oil for 5 min.  
  2. Add the beef and brown it.  Drain off the fat.  
  3. Add the wine, vinegar, paste, sauce, sugar, worcestershire, and seasoning.  Cook until bubbly and heated throughout.  Add some water if it's too thick.
  4. Serve on rolls and enjoy!
